Recent Yoga Teacher Training Graduate

My experience has been extremely positive. Physically, I have gained strength and the ability to listen carefully to my body to give it the right amount of exercise and rest. Emotionally, I have learned to identify how emotions affect my body, where they sit and how to modulate the affect they have on my body. The readings and in-class teaching have stimulated my mind and deepened my understanding of the breadth of yoga. Having the opportunity to understand and practice all components of a yoga lifestyle on a step-by-step basis has made the implementation into daily life more manageable. The course as a whole has guided me in my path towards a greater understanding of spirituality

The Techniques & Methodology of Functional Yoga

What you will learn in this program:

1. Asana Architecture

Explore the fundamental architecture of functional yoga through the study of posture families including alignment, integration, compensation and contraindications. Students will gain insight into their own practice, pose by pose and supported in building the skills to teach yoga in an accessible and intelligent manner.

2. Sequencing Functional Yoga Classes

It is both an art and science, to sequence yoga classes that offer students the ability to balance strength with flexibility while also grounding them in mindfulness. Our students will build their teaching repertoire by practically working with: principles of sequencing, sequencing tools and creative non-linear movements.

3. Anatomy & Physiology

The Form & Function of Movement

The form and function of the body has inspired wonder from time immemorial. Our anatomy course will facilitate our teacher’s ability to understand movement, perform posture analysis, and comprehend each of the body systems. Trainees will learn through a variety of practical methods which address all learning styles. The will emerge with the ability to see the body beneath the skin.

4. Movement Lab

The movement lab is a key component of our course. Students will take their theoretical skills and bring them to life by assessing each other and using video and discussion to hone their individual skills. By working together to implement sequences that address dysfunctional movement patterns, they will have the opportunity to really test out the power of yoga.

5. Asana Adjustment Lab

Using Manual Manipulation Safely & Therapeutically

The power of touch can offer profound insight to the student in relation to movement. This lab offers students the opportunity to practically learn the skill of physical yoga posture adjustment by obtaining consent, as well as assessing and understanding both human anatomy and trauma informed approaches.

6. The Strength Synergy Component

The strength synergy components is an exclusive set of sequences created by Genya Klaiman for every posture family. These sequences are creative, inclusive of all the core muscles and supported by a foundation in basic pilates and functional movements.

7. Teaching Lab

The teaching lab will offer teacher trainees a regular opportunity to consolidate and build on their teaching skills. Teaching sequences to colleagues under supervision and with feedback.

8. Yoga Lifestyle

Finding Balance

This is perhaps the most unique aspect of our program. Finding balance through the path of yoga is inclusive of both mind and body. We are eager to share the more traditional aspects of yoga such as meditation, mantra, chanting and chakra theories with our teacher trainees. However, we are even more thrilled to offer them 12 hours in deep healing Nutrition with Caroline Marie Dupont.

9. Becoming

Cultivation of the Teacher inside You

By cultivating our inner teacher (regardless if we plan on teaching yoga), we have the opportunity to refine our communication skills and learn to manage group dynamics. Our course will enhance public speaking, foster critical thinking and explore value systems through ethics examination. Teacher trainees will learn skills that are applicable to all aspects of their lives and relationships.

10. The Wisdom Teachings

Finding your Path

The wisdom teachings of yoga offer very practical tools for managing our minds and our lives. Our trainees will travel back in time by exploring the historical context in which yoga philosophy evolved. From here they will transport themselves to the present by exploring the yoga sutras from a psychological perspective.

11. The Business of Yoga

Become independent and attract clients that are compatible with what you have to offer. Refine your money blueprint to create the lifestyle you want as a Yoga Teacher. Discover the foundation of building lasting relationships with students. Fall in Love with the authentic marketing of your PASSION. And, create a work/life balance that is reflective of your yogic values.

12. Personal Practice

To cultivate your own yoga practice, you will attend at least one class per week at Indigo Yoga Studio for the duration of this program. In addition, you will read books throughout this program, to enrich your learning experience.

The training has been excellent, incorporating a multidimensional approach with lots of encouragement and support. I love that there are 4 teachers, each offering a different perspective on what a yoga teacher needs to learn, including basic anatomy as well as the poses and their effect on anatomy, plus sequencing which is not always included in yoga training…

Simone Nitzan
Lead Teacher BHK, MSc , RYT 500

“My purpose is to create a culture of learning and inclusivity where we critically examine human anatomy and physiology as it pertains to movement, as well as yoga philosophy, self-realization, and what it means to be human. On this journey we discover our true selves and our deeper meaning for being.”

More about Simone

Simone is inspired by how the ancient wisdom of yoga can be applied to our lives in the modern world today. Hatha Yoga has the power to heal our over-stimulated nervous system with its multitude of practices, while yoga philosophy leads us to a more sustainable and positive lifestyle, grounded in love for ourselves, all beings and our beautiful planet.

Since the early 2000’s Simone has been studying the human body in movement. She has a bachelor’s degree in human kinetics and a master’s degree in exercise physiology. Most recently Simone became a Registered Massage Therapist and treats a variety of musculoskeletal conditions alongside her yoga teaching practice.

Simone has been sharing her knowledge with aspiring yoga teachers since 2011 and blends her knowledge of western science, anatomy, and physiology with her experience in yogic philosophy. Simone is passionate about sharing these teachings and empowering others to access their best selves.

Kirill Berlin
Teacher

“I believe in yoga’s transformative power and I want my yoga teacher trainees students to experience it. Yoga can empower you to feel better, look better and perform better no matter where you are in your life and where you come from. My teaching is focused on moving the individuals forward on the path of self-growth, self-transformation and self-actualization.”

More about Kirill

When I was a child, my physical development was stunted due to a string of debilitating illnesses in the first year of my life. I was always one of the shortest and weakest kids in class and had to rely on my mind to keep up with my peers. Having gone through two immigrations, switching multiple schools and friends, and having lived in three different countries by age 15, I was lacking in self-confidence and was extremely shy.

I initially started doing yoga in my early 20’s as a way to relieve back pain from prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Since then, I was able to harness its transformative power to strengthen my confidence and self-image, improve my health, build a wonderful family and achieve a successful career.

I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years and I teach Functional, Vinyasa, Sivananda, and traditional Hatha yoga styles. I am a certified RYT 250 yoga teacher and have a degree in Computer Science with a professional background in product and project management. My classes focus on strength, flexibility, functional movement, breath, meditation and weave in elements of yoga philosophy.”

Caroline Dupont
Teacher, M.Sc.

” I feel most alive when offering my understanding of the relationship between the spiritual journey, the body, mind, emotions and subtle energy to help you to access the inherent goodness and beauty of your unique and precious Life. “

More about Caroline

“My greatest interest is exploring the profound contribution of individual healing to relationship, family, community, planetary and global healing.”

Since the early 1980’s I’ve immersed myself in the ever expanding yet paradoxically ever simplified world of human health. I’m a certified yoga instructor, and a registered holistic nutritionist; I have a master’s degree in exercise physiology, and a black belt in the Nia Technique (a holistic movement form); I’ve trained and sat with a number of meditation and spiritual teachers including many extended silent retreats.

Over the past 30 years I’ve taught thousands of students, worked with hundreds of clients individually and developed numerous courses and retreats

Genya Klaiman
Program Director, Teacher

“In my classes I invite students to find proper alignment, with just enough intensity as well as flexibility to acknowledge and honour their own unique needs and intentions. This experience of ‘self-sensing’ and ‘self-awareness’ becomes a tool that you’ll apply in your daily life”
